I recently ordered fabric on ebay. It was a by the yard listing, stating that there were more than 10 available. I ordered 6. I received notification this morning that my order had been shipped. Later today, I got an email from paypal and the seller stating that the bolt was 1/2 yard short. I was refunded the cost into my pp account, but the 5.5 yards had been shipped.

Now, I'm certain that the 5.5 yrds will be enough, but on principle, I am bothered that she went ahead and shipped before inquiring if that was ok...nowhere in her store policies, terms or conditions does it state that they will ship what they have and refund the rest in the event of a short cut...

so... would you leave a negative feedback?

I would email them back and let them know that you were disappointed how it was handled. Then, maybe give neutral feedback and explain why.

I don't know that this would rate negative feedback, unless you really needed the 6 yds, your project is on hold/going to be late, due to their mistake. You do have the option of refusing delivery and getting a full refund.

If you leave a neutral feedback, they can also leave one on you... it could end up hurting your ratings. I guess I would have to ask myself if this is really worth it? :D:D:D

That's kind of what I was thinking. I mean, I love the fabric (it was just shipped today, so I'm hoping the quality is as good as the looks of it, lol), and it should be more than enough (it's for a OBW, I *need* 3-ish yards. I won't be able to "double up", but I can use the rest of the fabric in other elements of the project). I was thinking to just send an email to the seller to mention my disappointment, and leave feedback based on the product alone (which other people who have used this fabric say it is good quality).

She has already left feedback for me, which is simply "glowing"...I hate to be a cynic, but I wonder if it is *because* of the short cut...know what I mean?

Give praise where deserved - quality of fabric, quick shipping, whatever - but maybe comment that the communication could have been better.

Stuff happens and this situation doesn't warrant a negative or neutral feedback response IMHO.

Unless it's changed again, sellers can no longer leave anything but positive feedback for buyers. Positive or no feedback at all. They haven't been able to leave negative/neutral for a while now. My husband used to sell there, but after the change he just started his own site...it was becoming very unfair for the sellers.

Its the holidays....I would give her a little room. First the thing is if you want to tell her how you feel click oncontact seller and leave her a note on how you feel and why. I don't think it warrents a bad rating. But you have to feel good about what you do.

I don't cut any slack to Ebay sellers. I leave negative feedback with not hesitations if the sale is not exactly what I paid for, no substitutions, no just as good, or no assumptions of what I would want. The seller has my email no excuse to not inform me of any changes.
