As someone fairly new to quilting, I would like to know what your favorite pattern is? If you could post a picture that would be great. Also, why is it your favorite and how many times have you made it? Maybe for newbies like myself, you could rank it as easy, intermediate, or advanced (difficult to make). This would be great to get ideas for my next project, plus ones to look forward to as I become more proficient. I appreciate the guidance that this board provides.

One of my favorite patters is called Bits and Pieces by Mountainpeek Creations.
It is a fast easy pattern and I have probably made about 25 of these or more. I currently have 3 in the works as wedding gifts.
It is a fat quarter type pattern, but works really well with 1/4 yard pieces. I can cut the fabrics and put the blocks together in an evening for a large lap size. I usually quilt it on the diagonal with a fancy stitch. Since each one has different fabrics and colors, I have not gotten bored with it yet cause they all end up looking different. It is the pattern I turn to when I want to get something done pretty quick. I usually make a large lap which calls for 12 fat quarters or quarter yards. I like using lots of fabrics in a quilt

For a new quilter I would suggest these patterns:

Any TURNING TWENTY series, you don't have many seams to match up and a great way to get you familiar with 1/4 inch seam.

Any TAKE 5 series, same reason as turning twenty but also gets you familiar with coordinating fabrics together.

There are several other nice patterns but IMHO, these two are really the best for a new quilter.

Another great pattern for beginners is Yellow Brick Road, I probably made about 20 of those.
As well as Warm wishes, I have made maybe 5 of those.
All quick and easy quilts to make!

Wow! Thanks for the great pictures. That seems like one that I could try now. I appreciate you describing the fabric amounts, etc.

This Take Five pattern is really easy........just 5 different 1/2 Yds of fabric. I made this one from flannel.

You need extra fabric for the borders.

My favorite patterns are Churn dash (Hole in the Barn door) and Ohio Star. Both are old patterns and favorites thru the years. Different fabrics make each quilt look so different. Plus they are easy to sew. :)

I don't really have a favorite, I like everything from A to Z. I like piecing, paper piecing, and applique. I like sewing on a machine and hand sewing. I guess if I had to pick I like a nine patch because you can do so much with them. But it changes with my mood so 5 minutes from now it might be something from Carol Doak's paper piecing or Ricky Timms applique.

I love the double Irish chain. It's not to difficult but looks so pretty.
