Whip stitching over my basting stitches

Ok....now I am confused, because you have to make your fold all the way to the paper....I literally don't see anyway around that. Maybe I should take a closer look at things. Thanks a lot for the advice.

Ok....time to do another practice bit. Seems like you have got it a little mixed up. Here's a really easy step by step tutorial for English Paper Piecing.....once you get the hang of it you will be zooming along:

My pattern calls for me to use freezer paper on my pieces and to fold a 1/4" of fabric over the paper and then use basting stitches to hold it down. later it asks me to come back and whipstitch over the same area before removing my basting stitches. I am finding it difficult to remove my basting stitches after whipstitching over it. any suggestions?

Sort of but my paper has to be removed after it is basted and whipstitched....I think the only reason for the paper at all is because the material is flannel and it helps to stiffen it up for stitching.
