Ok....now I am confused, because you have to make your fold all the way to the paper....I literally don't see anyway around that. Maybe I should take a closer look at things. Thanks a lot for the advice.

Ok....time to do another practice bit. Seems like you have got it a little mixed up. Here's a really easy step by step tutorial for English Paper Piecing.....once you get the hang of it you will be zooming along:

I am finding it difficult to remove my basting stitches after whipstitching over it. any suggestions?
Is this what you are trying to do?

Sort of but my paper has to be removed after it is basted and whipstitched....I think the only reason for the paper at all is because the material is flannel and it helps to stiffen it up for stitching.

Renee, please go to this you tube video and watch it a couple or three times. I think the whole process will make better sense to you then. The lady who made this video has a wonderful website that is worthwhile visiting.

That is a good tutorial. I've never done any English paper piecing but watched someone doing it a little while ago. Look easy.

i'm a little confused about the link to your pattern... for me, it comes up as a rag quilt and your picture does not seem to match that.
