Default Wondering about what to do with all the too-small bed quilts

I have a standard king-sized bed now with a very deep pocket (20") and now my queen quilts are too small.

I also notice that most patterns for sale are either for baby, lap, full/queen-sized beds.

Do any of you have any ideas about how I can still use the ones I already have? Some of them are beautiful and I don't want to give or pack them away.

I had thought about layering, with the quilt on the top layer, but I don't know what to use underneath except a sheet...and that just won't do.

Any decorator ideas? I thought maybe some of you had the same problem and already solved it.

    Thanks in advance,
    Dray

My first thought is adding borders to your existing quilts. If you have a coordinating bed skirt for any of them that would be a natural choice for fabric to use for this purpose.

you could remove the binding, or cut it off. then add either pieced or plain borders... whichever goes better . this could be added in a QAYG manner.

In my guest room, I have a white chenille bedspread and I fold my quilts and lay them at the foot of that double bed. I change them often just because I like too. If they're big enough, I will lay them on top up to the pillow area. When my grandson spends the night, I let him choose the quilt he wants to sleep under. He's 3 and seems to like this although sometimes it can take him a while to decide (delaying bedtime, perhaps?).

I have found that the old standard quilts don't fit my queen size mattress. Solution: bed skirt around it. But sometimes even then it isn't long enough on sides. On some, I've added a border. Even on a twin, it's either too long or too short on sides. The old ones seem to be squareish...
    Good luck!!!

ditto to adding borders via QAYG

Another possibility ... I have a Valentines quilt which when out of season, I flip it over, to let the backing be the top. It's a nice neutral black with gold print. Then I overlay a quilt that is too small for my bed. The large quilt frames it up nicely, and it lets me showcase other smaller quilts as I wish.

How about a plain cotton bedspread first and lay your quilts on top. I do that sometimes and you will still be able to use them.

How about removing the binding, and adding a quilt as you go strip top and bottom, then side to side, and adding a couple of complimentary borders all the way around. The borders can be quilted in advance, and attached by the strips, so you won't have to struggle with the larger top.

I would use a white coverlet and either layer a quilt on top or fold the quilt at the foot of the bed. Here is a link to the type of coverlet I am thinking of:
