I take the basting thread out. I baste whith what ever thread I grab first. LOL I leave the paper in until Im ready to put the top and back together with batting.

I was inspired by Fons and Porter "Love of Quilting" july 2008 Garden Party designed by Susan Getman. I bought the Ceylon Bali Batiks fat quarter bundle and worked around these colors to come up with the final design on EQ. I'll have the final product to show on the board in a year or two :lol:

I would leave the papers in until each hexie is surrounded on each side.

I've done it both ways, leaving the basting in and taking it out. If it doesn't show and you don't have too much of a seam allowance (if it's not too bulky!) it's not bad to hand quilt, might take a bit more finger strength. Personally, I prefer to leave the basting stitches in.

And just remember - your quilt, your rules!

I remove the templates after I have a flower "block" sew together. I leave in the basting thread. It doesn't show and I'm the only one who will ever know that it is there.
