The quilts I make are not usually made for much warmth since we have only a few really cold days here in south Louisiana. I use a batting called traditional batting. It gives the quilt a good hand and is comfortable year round.

I make most of my baby quilts with either white flannel or white fabric as batting -- it adds that little bit of extra warmth and makes it nice to quilt, and will hold up to the many washings much better than regular batting.

beautiful. Can't wait to see it completed. Yes, I would put some light weight backing and then the back. I am sure that even in Georgia it gets chili.

I found a lightweight poly batting that I had in my closet and forgot about. I think I'll use that. Now to make my binding and sandwich the quilt!

It's a very pretty baby quilt. Whatever you choose to do with the great suggestions offered will look and feel wonderful!

I just had 2 quilts, backed with minky, LA'ed. The first one came back and it was stiff, I used White and Natural. For the second one, I used bamboo batting, and it is much better.

I would think lining it with flannel, as others have suggested, might work well, especially since baby lives in a warmer climate.

Good luck and let us know what you come up with.

minky is heavy, and warm. I wouldn't use any batting.

I love your quilt and your beautiful fabric choices! What size were your 1/2 square triangles? I have two daughters who
are expecting in the fall and would love to make this quilt! I have only made one quilt and this looks like something I might be able to do! Thank you for sharing!
