He told me he has five flowers done....

but sadly from a scan done on last Friday he will not be able to walk or be involved in therapy for at least another month or so,

as he can not bear weight on his legs yet....the fracture is still healing.

I called him both Thursday night and Friday evening, and he sounds chipper considering, yes, the news from the xrays that it will be more weeks before starting weight bearing.

I told him he is a captive audience for several weeks at Rehab for SHOPPING MY STASH ! ! Ha Ha. He is leaning towards gentle autumn colors in his GFG and when he gets home he will pick out his own shade of authentic early 1900s shades of the pathways and whatevers. He has the particular shade of soft yellows he wants for the centers now, and I have supplied about 30 of the *muted autumn colors* he likes and have another 30 washed and cut and ready to mail tomorrow morning.. so he will have more than enough of othe flower-colors.
DARLENE I am so tickled you sent flowers he said he had TWO bunches of flowers and he is so tickled ! Some lady actually visited him Thursday afternoon from a sewing group, he couldnt remember her name when I called Thursday ight... but he was so tickled to have company.... and someone who sewed.
Dick has been such a contributor to our Board with his pictures and stories and fantastic quilts... and to the chat room when he came in. Do you realize he made more than just that one *postage stamp* queen quilt in the picture on the Board? He said he made THREE postage stamp quilts for family members. He is quite a character, and at 85 and new to quliting for just two years. Of course, he had a lifetime in Clothing Design and is a master of sewing techniques before coming to quilting. He is a real treasure.
He said to thank people for the cards and someone sent him a *tote bag* to keep the goodies in.. haha Huggers again to everyone, Sheeps

It was me who visited with Dick on that Thursday. It was my pleasure. He feels so far away from people. The dress that Dick made is OUTSTANDING!!!!! He is one special talented person. I haven't read all the posts on Dick so I apologize if this has already been said, but when I visited with Dick,......some lady was in the room with him that was taping his conversation and will be writing a book on him.

MEMA - thanks for sendin a card... I sent his address by PM to you. Last I heard, he expects to be at this Rehab address until around June 17, then with a relative for a few weeks, then possibly back at this Rehab place for Physical Therapy. He sure enjoys the cards he says.. Sheeps

Yes, we still have time to send those cards. Dick will be at rehab until the 17th and then to his daughters for 30 days and then back to the same rehab.

I just finished talking to Dick for a while, he says his plans have changed, he will be leaving the Rehab place sometime this weekend, between Friday (June10) and Monday, swinging by for a few days at some medical clinic in Arkansas, then arriving at his daughter's house in MO where he will be for about 30 days.

He said he got some of the nurses to get pictures of the crocheted baby dress and the FOUR ROWS OF CARDS ON HIS WALL and wants to thank everyone SOOOOO much for their cards and well wishes, and gifts (and that WILD pillowcase someone sent him :)
When he gets relocated at his daughters I have his new address there for people to use for contact... AND I AM HOPING his daughter will have a computer and internet access... if she does, I bet he figures out her computer and manages to get on line a little bit to be in better touch with us... I sure miss his friendly chat and posts.
The Grandmothers Flower Garden is up to 20 finished single row flowers.... and he says he has enough fabrics for 60 flowers now hehehe and is busy cutting out more hexagons. ... Anyway he sounds good and wanted to be sure I told everyone how much the cards and goodies made his stay SO much nicer... and sends his love to all... Sheeps

I also talked to Dick and the last plans were that his daughter will pick him up on Monday morning from rehab to come to Arkansas to have an implant put in...(prostate)
Will then go to his daughters for about the 30 days and then back to the same rehab. Dick wants to thank everyone for the lovely cards that he has received. Dick also told me that he should have the Grandmothers Flower Garden blocks completed by the time he gets out, but Dick is not calling it a Grandmothers Flower Garden.....he is calling it "Dick''s Flower GArden" because it is unique. Anyone who knows Dick, you will know that Dick is unique himself.
