    Default magic of a 2 1/2" square

I'm making a full-bed quilt for a grandson. The quilt is a hodge podge of things he likes. I was so unhappy with it when I was laying it out with sashing - trying to decide what color would pull this poor thing together better. When I added the cornerstones to the sashing it totally changed the quilt - to my eye anyway. I have rarely used cornerstones before - I'm a "pedal to the medal" "how fast can I do this?" kind of girl. But ... these took this project from "don't like it" to "I think he'll love it" in the flash of a 2 1/2" square.

The cornerstones seem to pull the entire quilt together. He will love it!

Lovely quilt - like how you have alternated with tone on tone and patterned fabrics.

Wonderful quilt for a boy! The sashing and cornerstones really bring it all together and give a bit of order. I love to use cornerstones with sashing because they keep the horizontal rows of blocks lined up evenly and also help to keep everything true and squared.
Great job Grandma. The fabrics and colors look terrific together. He will adore it!!

I, too, have discovered that some quilts really need sashing with cornerstones to make them work out well. You did a great job of bringing this together. I'm sure he will love it. Great going, Grandma.
