Beautiful quilt and colors and agree with everyone about the borders. Being an almost self taught quilter never realized you had to measure to get the length for the borders. Was lucky for a lot of quilts and then it happened the most horrible waves until someone told me to measure. So glad I know that now, what a difference it makes.

Gorgeous top! I suspect the bias edges on the last diamond borders stretched while sewing on the last black border. It is a stunning quilt top and I would re-do the last black border. If that is not something you are going to do, than a piano or bead board quilting design MAY take up the extra fabric. Use an extra high loft batt so that the border's extra fabric will puff up.

Vibrant colors and pattern! Wow! I would take the time to redo the wavy border to achieve best results. I prefer the term "precision" over "perfection." I can live with imperfection because I'm human, but if I know I've not been precise, I have control to change that. I think we all know intuitively by asking the questions what the answer is ( at least in quilting!) so follow those inklings.

Silly question: what difference does it make if you measure across the center of the quilt as opposed to just measuring the length & width and doubling it to accommodate the four sides?
(Maybe I could find the answer somewhere if I searched so will understand if nobody wants to explain.)

I like it, but sewing it would have made me crazy. eye-popping WOW! If a border is a little bit wavy, just quilt it a bit more than the rest, but not longitudinally. Piano keys would work for that.

she has been here 6 days but she had the center of the quilt done already. She did the borders while here. She used a pattern from a book, "Totally Tubular", using strip piecing. She repeated the technique on the pieced border. The black outer border is actually two black strips sewn together, so the ruffle fullness multiplied with each addition to the border. (She doesn't measure those yet
