I am starting this thread a week early because I leave next week for a quilting retreat and don't want to forget to start the thread before I leave!!

We are Group 10, named The USA Stitchers since we are all located here in The States. Our group represents the following states: Minnesota, Washington, 2 in New York, Texas, and Pennsylvania!

I will start out by posting my finished center - a 23 1/2 inch square pinwheel and fussy cut center using civil war repos! Plus I'll post my label because it was so much fun to make!

Happy quilting and I can't wait to see the centers from the rest of The USA Stitchers and the other 9 groups!

Hi Steph,

I'm not in your group but I want to watch all the groups! How exciting that your thread is up - we're nearly all systems go! Have a great time at the Retreat BTW! :D

This is my center panel. Its a cheater but "oh, well". I really wanted to do one for my dh this time. Its all packaged up and ready to mail out next Monday.

Ducky 10-05-2009 01:06 PM

I like that idea, CollettaKay. So much can be done with that.

mamatobugboo 10-05-2009 01:34 PM

Colletta - I think that is a great idea! There are some great colors in there (I'm eyeballing the red leaves!) and so much can be done with border-styles with that center ! Can't wait to get it!

omak 10-15-2009 01:51 PM

If nothin' got mixed up ... I put my center into the mail about an hour ago, and it is trucking its way to Miss Ruth. now to go find her to pm both her and group leader <g>

Knot Sew 10-15-2009 02:30 PM

I just sent mine to momma to bugaboo......i hope thats right

Knot Sew 10-15-2009 02:33 PM

how big is that Omak......I have some nice fabrics in the usa fabric hmmmmm :D

omak 10-15-2009 06:35 PM

Well, I used my triangulations program (it is WONDERFUL!) and created 2" finished squares.
I vaguely remember measuring it, knowing this question was coming up, and ... well ... the block is supposed to be 12 1/2" square ... and, it is close, I am sure <g>
The last thing I remembered checking was: is there a 1/4" beyond the points at the edges? and, I think it was ...
I don't mean to sound like a blooming idiot, but I really am not a detail person and the little things usually escape me ... sorry ...

This is sooo funn (eee)!
DD younger came in with the mail and I turned from the puter to see this HUGE box and I asked who is that for?
you!
Is it from Spain? (wondering why it was a USPS priority mail box)
nope ...
so I explain about the exchanges, er, Round Robins.
the box is from Nanny
okay ...
so I think, well, the mail is here, maybe I will pretend I am an adult and go take care of the mail properly
so, I walk over, start going through the mail, and was doing a pretty good job of touching once and making a decision, and what should pop out but this big manila envelope, innocent looking thing, so I looked at it in a curious manner.
It is from COLLETTA!
surprise, surprise! LOL
I am scared to open it, but I wanted you to see the box my mommy sent to the cow camp!

turns out, the package was for DGS, but this is my mother's way of decorating things ... LOL

omak 10-16-2009 08:13 PM

Question!
Colleta ... can I alter the corners of the center?
don't get scared, I am just pondering, and thinking .... <g>

mamatobugboo 10-19-2009 07:05 AM

FYI to all you lurkers and to The USA Stitchers....

the aliens kidnapped RuthCamp and sent an imposter...the imposter is remarkably identical to Ruth but for some unknown reason, she is going by the name of Know Sew...let's just hope the aliens remembered to include the quilting knowledge and talent when they chose Ruth's replacement!

:D

omak 10-19-2009 07:16 AM

And, not only did they replace her! They gave her two names?
I was introduced to the imposter as "Knot Sew" ... hmmm ...

mamatobugboo 10-19-2009 02:38 PM

KnotSew,

I received your center today - it is so PRETTY!!! Amazing how little photos actually capture the vibrancy of the colors! Can't wait to get started on it!

Steph
