Lookyloo, Is there a name for that pattern? I just LOVE it and would like to make one myself.

sushi, the pattern for the main part of the quilt is in this book by M'liss Hawley. I don't remember the name. The chisel ratio is 1:2 (the rectangel with the HST off one end). So it can be 2x4 3x6, etc. The HST is the same size as the width of the rectangle. |

Super scrappy but my highlight is the lovely border.

Here's a top made from Bonnie Hunter's Scrappy Mountain Majesties pattern, except that I wanted it child-sized, so I used a 6.5" block instead of an 8.5" block and cut the strips 1.5" instead of 2" wide. The setting is one of the alternates suggested. Not my favorite, but okay for a child. I haven't decided whether to border or not. It depends on finding the perfect border fabric. It was made with scraps from other quilts I've done and a gifted WOW background fabric.

loisf, I like this baby quilt very much. I want to encourage you to add a border. Just like a frame sets off a picture, a border sets off the quilt. While the binding will do that, too, it has the same effect as a very thin frame. Best, imho, to have both a border and the binding.

A scrappy denim memory quilt for a friend with a pieced backing, four patch x's and o's, film at five and the last was a donation for a church fundraiser. Church members gathered the fabric and I ended up with lots of green and lavender. The baby coin quilt has appliqued denim flowers
As well as being addicted to scrappy quilts I also got hooked on 2 inch squares! |
