Southwest flare: Los Cruces - finished
#119
i first did the appliqué. Then I did the trapunto using water solvable thread outlining the appliqué as close as possible to the appliqué. By using water solvable thread I did not have to worry about stitching on the appliqué. Then I trimmed the excess batting away. I then sandwiched the quilt. Next I used my built in walking foot on my Janome 7700 to stitch in the ditch the outer part of the squares. Then I drew lines with water disappearing marker my lines for the cross hatch. And then I began the FMQ the lines continuously using the appliqué and outer edge of the squares to connect to the next line making sure that I completely went around the appliqu.

i wish that I designed this myself. Someday I might be that talented. I bought the pattern and kit from Southwest Decoratives in Albuquerque. Get store and customer service.
