I make these wreaths too. Try looking at a thrift store for a cookie press. Merry Christmas.

Oh my gosh Nanna up north...you have my kitchen, same counter top, black stove and micro wave set at an angle to the right of our stove. Really like your wreath cookies have never seen them before. Thank you for sharing.

I also must make the Russian Tea cookies. But I divide the dough in half. Make the balls with one half and the other half I make slightly larger balls, press down slightly then make "thumb print" cookies and fill with any jam or jelly. My family loves them.

my favorite cookie to make (and eat!) are the peanut blossoms with hershey kisses on top. However my husband's favorite cookie is what we call Ritz peanut butter cookies. very simple to make - in fact so simple there is no recipe! Smear some peanut butter between two ritz crackers and then dip in melting chocolate til covered. put on waxed paper and refrigerate til set. he goes crazy over them and always insists i make some for him to take to work.

used to bake many different kind of cookies but now the only cookies I make are shortbread cookies, some with hazelnuts, some with almonds and plain. I call them disappearing cookies. no matter how many I bake I always run short of them (shortbread?)

My favorite is spritz. We use the Christmas tree press at Christmas. Mom likes the wreaths made with the star press, too.

Spritz Cookies

1/2 lb butter
2/3 c sugar
3 egg yolks
1/2 tsp almond extract
2-1/2 c flour or more
dash salt

Cream butter, add sugar, then egg yolks. Add almond extract then flour. Extrude from cookie press onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake in hot oven (400 F) Watch carefully, takes 5-8 min. Makes 10 dozen wreaths.

I also llike the German's Chocolate Brownie Drops.

Brownie Drops 3 dozen
2 pkg (4 oz ea) German's Sweet Chocolate (substitute 8 oz chocolate chips, but not cocoa)
1 tbsp butter
2 egg
3/4 c sugar
1/4 c flour
1/4 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1/8 tsp salt
3/4 c chopped pecans
1/2 tsp vanilla

Melt chocolate and butter in double boiler, stirring occasionally, remove from heat. Meanwhile, beat eggs till foamy; add sugar 2 tbsp at a time and beat until mixture is very thick (5 min by mixer and longer by hand). Blend in chocolate mixture. Add rest of ingredients. Drop from teaspoon onto greased baking sheet. Bake 350 F 10-12 min or until set. Cool; store in tightly covered container.

Your cookies look wonderful. They must really cheer up a tray of cookies. I managed to find cookie presses for all 3 daughters, they are the all metal ones from antique stores. As was said can't beat the all metal ones.

My favorite is a very crisp sugar cookie.

Sugar Cookies
1 cup butter or margarine - softened
1 cup powdered sugar
1 cup white sugar
1 cup vegetable oil
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cream of tartar
4 cups flour

Cream butter and sugars, mix in oil, egss and vanilla. Mix in dry ingredients. Dough is very soft. Place 1 tbsp. size balls of dough 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Dip bottom of a glass in sugar and slightly flatten cookies. Bake at 375* for 8 - 10 minutes. Sprinkle with colored sugars or other sprinkles if desired.

Got this recipe from my dad's mom. My mom's dad liked these because he could eat them without his teeth! I know this is not a family "original" recipe but it does have family memories tied to it!
