My favorite Christmas cookie recipe.... what's yours?
I've been making these at Christmas for as long as I can remember. You have to have a cookie press.... and I still try to find them at estate sales, etc. You use the star plate, press out a long line of dough, cut them into 5" lengths. I use a 3x5 card to measure them. Then you twist the dough and press the ends together to make the cookies. They aren't super sweet.... but they look so pretty at Christmastime. Love them.
So, what's your favorite Christmas cookie?
Holly Wreaths
1 c. unsalted butter
1- 3oz cream cheese
1/2 c. granulated sugar
1 t. vanilla
2 c. flour
Cream sugar, cream cheese, and margarine. Beat in the vanilla. Gradually, blend in the flour. Fill the cookie press with the star plate. Cut into 5" lengths and press together the ends.
Bake on an ungreased cookie sheet 10-12 minutes at 375 degrees. Cookies should just be slightly golden. Remove at once to cooling racks.
Decorate each cookie with green frosting using the leaf tip and put 2 red cinnamon candies for holly berries.

Oh, your cookies do look festive.
My favorite cookie at Christmas is not really a cookie but it has been my tradition for over 20 years to make baklava. This year I have not made any so I don't have a photo to show.
Merry Christmas!

I don't make them but my mil does and I look forward to them every year.
Only other thing that screams Christmas to me but is not cookies is my moms fudge recipe and haystacks. This is probably the first year I can remember that I am not making either of theses treats.

Your cookies do look pretty. The favorite at our house is Cardamom snaps. They're like ginger snaps but with cardamom instead of ginger and a bit undercooked so they turn out nice and soft instead of hard and crunchy. Of course, if they're hard and crunchy they taste great dunked in tea or hot chocolate.

A favorite of mine is "Brilliant Candy Slices":
Brilliant Candy Slices
Cream:
1 C. softened butter
1 C. sifted powdered sugar
Add:
1 egg
1 teasp. Vanilla
2-1/4 C. flour
Mix in:
1 C. pecan halves (I cut mine up into two pieces)
2 C. red/green candied cherries (I cut mine in half)
Divide dough into 3 logs, about 10" long
Roll up into waxed paper and chill for at least 3 hours
Slice into 1/8" – ¼” slices and place on cookie sheet.
Cookies do not spread so you can put them fairly close to each other.
Bake at 325 degrees for about 10—12 minutes .
You should not let them get “brown.”

Your wreath cookies are really festive. I will have to try them next year. I have a sugar cookie recipe from Land of Lakes butter that I started using in the early 80s, my family loves them. They are lemon flavored and a soft cookie.

Thanks for posting! I am making cookies today and have all the ingredients but the red hots. Red M and M's will have to do. I love old cookie presses also. They still work. My new Wilton Pro croaked on the first batch last year. All metal dies but the part that holds the die was plastic.
