    Default Stewed tomatoes!

After reading the recipe section, you all got me thinking of some foods that I have not had in a while.... Mom used to use flounder or Haddock and bread it and fry it... She would make a big bowl of rice and then she would get stewed tomatoes and thinkin it with a little cornstarch and we would put it over the rice and eat our fish. Now that my friends is a comfort food I am gonna have to make and have my mom over for it.

Flounder sounds good. I've had the flounder with stewed tomatoes before. My friend down the street makes it every once in awhile.

Do you use just the canned version or home made stewed tomatoes?

YUM!! Stewed tomatoes and maccaroni with butter was the Monday wash day meal growing up. Another yummy was stewed tomatoes over noodles simmered in milk. Now I am hungry all over again!

Love stewed tomatoes but never fix them. They're probably not very difficult to make.

A staple when I was growing up when Tomatoes were plentiful in the summer time was tomatoes and day old bread. Cook the tomatoes, Mom added either water or her veggie broth to it, let them cook, smashed them down with a potato masher, added the day old bread cut up of course. Don't forget to taste it Grandma always stated: it too strong add a pinch of sugar. Mix them together and we had that with fish .. YUMMY !!
Thanks for the memories of Mom & Grandma making a fish fry, having stewed tomatoes and bread.
