I love my Martelli cutters and mat. I agree that 8 to ten layers is about the limit for cutting accuracy. Different fabrics have different wts. The pile can get wobbly at a certain point.

Met another QB member

I met Becky W from the QB at a retreat this weekend. It is so much fun to meet people in person. The retreat was great, lots of sewing, fun and good food.

What a lucky family. Your great is beautiful. I find that using a multi-stitch zig-zag and lengthening the stitch gives me the best result for machine binding.
