They do make different thicknesses of the Fusible Fleece. I use 987 for the inside lining, inside pockets and the handle. I use the heavy weight fleece for just the outside of the bag. I like my bags a little firmer. I did try the 987 for the whole bag one time, but didn't feel it was firm enough. This way works out great for me and no problem sewing any of it.

I made one also and am hesitant to do another. It was very hard to stitch through in places because of the thickness. I will be interested to see what others have tried that might make it easier.

I have made many of these and only use the fleece on the outside layer. I use a light weight fusible interfacing on the inside pockets for some stability. I also use plastic in the bottom. I cut up the cheap plastic kitchen cutting mats that run a dollar or two.

I like the fusible fleece and I like the thickness of it. It seems to make my bags much more 'substantial'...more like the Vera Bradley bags. I also prefer to FMQ the bags.

I used the same needle for the entire bag, but when it started to get a little bulky, I switched to a longer stitch length. It worked great!

I have made many Bow Tucks and other bags using the
Pelon Fusible fleece 987F. I fuse it to both the outer fabric and lining. I have never had it look or feel bulky,
it seems to be just right.

I love the body it gives the bag. First one I made that I was really happy with. I made a smaller purse that called for thinner batting and it sagged in the middle. Probaby will never use it.
