To each their own. Personally, the only blood I've drawn in decades of playing with sewing toys has been from pins. Paying attention makes a world of difference...just ask my ex who once walked right straight off the edge of a roof he was shingling.

No gloves. Not for sewing, gardening...or cleaning. Just can't stand 'em and my hands wash well. I think they are great for those who can use them, I just can't. Dunno why.

It's not a matter of if you cut yourself but when. I don't care if it is just a nick, it hurts and not worth the risk. I used the glove until I found this: http://quiltersslidelock.com/ I don't use a rotary cutter without it. As a bonus it hold the ruler in place and it won't budge. The older guild members love it, they don't need much pressure on the ruler to hold it in place.

Thanks for reminding me. I have one and have misplaced it. Will have to look for it! I think it's an ounce of prevention...

Take it from one that cut the end of my finger off. I had an emergency room bill and all the pain. I got a klutz glove after that and I use it when cutting with my rotary cutter. I believe in using it and it is natural to me after about a week of using it.

I tried the gloves but really did not like them at all. I do use the "white" rubber tipped gloves for quilting

Thanks for sharing this; it sounds wonderful! I watched the video but didn't notice any mention of holding more than two layers, at once. Have you used it, to hold a twice-folded width?

I do well to wear gloves for free motion quilting. as it is, mine are tipless on the fingers. I hate gloves.

I don't use them myself but did buy some for my grandkids to use when they are cutting.

There are clear plastic guards that attach to rulers. I would use those instead. However, I prefer to live on the wild side and not use gloves.
