I did a search on manly quilt patterns and here's a link to some photos...

I think the full size quilt of a carpenter's star would highlight the fabric as well as 10 minute block one. There is one

Just use man colors and it will work.

ya know, I'm the queen of searching, I thought. But I never thought of keying in manly quilts!

Thanks for reminding me that I have a search engine.

and I like the 10 minute block.

Yes Jingle, I did conclude that the colors you use have just as much impact as the pattern.

I made this Warm Wishes quilt. I just enlarged the center square to cut 8.5" so there is only the difference of the sashing to be cut longer to 8.5" instead of 6"

Paperprincess suggested this one too, and I really like the style. And you liked the tennis shoes too!

did you leave the unsashed squares at 6"? What was the finished size? I'm trying to gather fabrics & calculate how much to order. I think I'm putting the black & white version on the back.

    beautiful quilt!

I think warm wishes is good. you don't want to chop up all that cute fabric. you want it to show. and you can put your RW&B in the stripes. good luck with all those quilts.

I think a Disappearing 9-patch would work too. It's one of my favorites.

i recently wrestled a disappearing 9 patch. It came out ok, but I was worse for the wear. I'm sure there were lots of reasons it was difficult that now aren't relative, but the bad taste is still there. I will do another some day, just too soon right now!

I vote for Warm Wishes, too. It really focuses on the fabric. If you don't want the sneakers in the smaller squares you can pull a color out. I could see it with blue sashing around the large squares, white between the squares, red small squares and the sneaker fabric in the large squares. That gives you the patriotic theme. I would audition to see if you wanted tone on tone fabric or solids.
