Solution for rulers that slip?

I use a med grit sand paper. I just cut them into strips and glue on one or two strips off to the side with an Elmer's glue stick. It lasts a long time.
A quick fix you can also use is to place emery boards under the ruler. they will create a friction and stay put until you move the ruler. I use this all the time. You could glue them on if you are using large rulers.

I use the sticky rubber dots...one on each corner. Bought a small sheet of them for less than $5. They work great; no falling/peeling off. I only have them on my long rulers as I seem to be able to hold the shorter/smaller ones down well enough.

I use clear strips that are meant for the bathtub. Amazon sells them. About $14 and you will have enough for all your rulers and a friend's to boot. You can see through the strips so it doesn't interfere with measuring lines.

I'm with you about the dots- I don't like them. I also have used that medical tape and it works much better.
As for Quilters Select Rulers- they are wonderful. I'm slowly adding them to my collection. Best out there.

The clear medical bandage tape works great on rulers. I got it at walmart. I can't remember who mentioned it here, but, I tried it and it works wonderfully. In the past I had used the invisi Grip. But, after awhile it tries to come loose. So far this works great and was inexpensive.
Now I use strips cut from the shelf liner and it is an easy thing to use. I have strips cut in different widths for different rulers, not attached to any ruler just placed on fabric under ruler to cut.
The shelf liner tip was given by a fellow board member but am at a loss right now as to who passed on the tip.

My friends and I have been using this method for a few years. All you need is a small 2" x 1" strip to put under your ruler to keep it stable when cutting. We keep the piece in our quilting tools and it is always there when we need it.

I have these rubbery strips that to go on the sides of my rulers. I bought them from Guidelines for Quilting and I think they're called GripStrips. Not the cheapest solution but they work pretty well.
