I'm almost done with Clue 3 - found some time to sew today. I like the way these are turning out. Last year was the first time I had made these units - and they seemed somewhat difficult then. This year they seem much easier - probably because we made so many with Grassy Creek. What I learned last year is definitely paying off now.

I'm doing this mystery this year. I decided to make things a little harder for myself. I'm making two quilts with different colors.
Using the colors Bonnie suggested except the aqua is a pale green. The red splash and the flower fabrics are going to be the borders. The second one is in purples, blues and beige. But I'm not sure what to use for the aqua color. I have a green and an aqua to use. The paisley, dark purple and the purple blue mix batik will be borders. The green or aqua will be the other color. Which color do you prefer?

Queenbarbiej, I am in awe of your ambition…two BH mystery quilt. Both colors are wonderful and I’lll be anxious to see how they turn out. While I am not doing this year’s mystery, I love checking out the posts and am inspired by everyone’s talent and project dedication.

Queenbarbiej, that's great that you can work on two! I love the water colors on the right, blues and aquas. I would use the aqua in the second one. The warm one looks great too. If you have to choose one over the other. I'd do the green in the first one, aqua in the next.

Your fabrics look wonderful, Queenbarbiej! Such a pretty floral border for the first quilt. I also would choose the aqua for the second quilt.

(In the 'Good Fortune' year I tried doing two versions at once, but it was too much, and the fabrics I picked for the second version were too busy, even for me, which is saying something. That version is in a box in pieces.)

QueenBarbieJ: Beautiful fabrics for both versions.

I have completed through Clue 3, but only doing half the units. What I thought were wonky Units from Clue 1 behaved very nicely in completing this Clue, so no need to re-do any half square triangles. Yeah!

One tip for placement for Clue 3: The 90 degree angle on the “wing” triangle lines up with the corner of the square bisected by the seam. Then sew neutral to pink. Repeat for other wing. See my photo (but match edges before actually sewing).

Love all the photos, and because of that, I am even reconsidering my distaste of all things pink! Queen - love the purples. You can send that one my way, if it needs a home!

Ooooh aaaaah -- look at all the wonderful things going on!

I'm still watching more tv than sewing but I should finish up clue 3 this morning. I have all the wings on one side. Yesterday at group I pinned half of what was left (using up all my pins), once they are sewn than I can pin the other half and then it's down to the pressing and trimming.

I am really feeling the cold and dark this year... I'm enjoying working with the pinks quite a lot. Have to admit there is a beauty and simplicity to plain solid white fabric and not having to worry about right sides and such.
