Not just calicos I think. I had a part Siamese who bit faucets and hung out in the laundry room which we were suppose to not enter because she had claimed it. Now have a tabby who will not be touched unless she wants me to brush her with her 4 inch brush, she sits on my knee facing away from me and turns her head to me looking like"well, I'm here/ what are we waiting for?" sometimes I don't get it and she jumps off; sometimes I get it and brush her. She allows it, no gratitude. I brush 3 strokes on top of head, sides of face and under chin. She gets the rhythm. Does not like back to be touched. Will not tolerate the new kitten so they are separated but I need to get them to be together so I can get my life back. Any ideas? I've given them scent of one another, helped them see one another at a distance, bring him in with a carrier kitty house which he loves like a dog loves his dog house. She growls at him fiercely while he is in the carrier and through the door which is an inch open with a hook. He is so sweet I am afraid she will physically hurt him or at least traumatize him so I am protecting him but they need to get along for my sake.

There is a form that will be worked out for next years SS asking different things so for those ( like me) that don't feel comfortable saying I want this or that- fill out the form and you don't feel awkward as if you are asking for items So if you have suggestions for the form please feel free to list them here

and I touched her on the sleeve
She didn't recognize the face at first
but then her eyes flew open wide
Tried to hug me and she spilled her purse
and we laughed until we cried
Took her groceries to the checkout stand
The food was totaled up and bagged
stood there lost in our embarrassment
    as the conversation dragged
Went to have ourselves a drink or two
but couldn't find an open bar
Bought a six-pack at the liquor store
and we drank it in the car
We drank a toast to innocence, we drank a toast to now
Tried to reach beyond the emptiness but neither one knew how
She said she'd married her an architect
Kept her warm and safe and dry
She said she'd like to say she loved the man
but she didn't want to lie
I said the years had been a friend to her
and that her eyes were still as blue
But in those eyes I wasn't sure if I saw doubt or gratitude
She said she saw me in the record store
and that I must be doing well
I said the audience was heavenly
    but the traveling was hell
We drank a toast to innocence we drank a toast to time
We're living in our eloquence, another old lang syne
The beers were empty and our tongues grew tired
and running out of things to say
She gave a kiss to me as I got out
and I watched her drive away
Just for a moment I was back in school
And felt that old familiar pain
And as I turned to make my way back home
    the snow turned into rain...
Thank you so so much for the lyrics. It is special to me because in its sadness and nastalgia, it says we can't go back. What might have been are the sad part of the "Scrooge Christmas Carol" but as he changed and went into the present so we must also.

I love my little home out here in the sticks and have no desire to travel. I have been blessed with a gift of the ability to sew. So I quilt for others on my wonderful machines and make gifts for my family. I certainly understand what it is like to not have any extra money, been there. Bless all of you, and you are more than welcome to come "play in my sandbox" and I will share my toys with you.
Good for you! You are in a good place in your life and deserve it. Right now I want to buy things for my son because that is what makes me happy but when he is working and has money to buy his own things, I will be good to myself too. I have a few nice machines and all I need for now. On my "what to get when I win the lottery" list are a cutting machine (which I saw on this post and did not know existed before) and a felting machine which I saw on tv today.

One of the things I like best in any swap is hearing from the person that they enjoy what I sent. It isn't that I want the gratitude, it's knowing that you put a smile on someone's face. The monthly swaps use a form that we fill out for our partner. The email and phone number info stays with the hostess. It gets tweaked frequently, but works pretty well.
