Personally, Suzie, I appreciate this thread being all inclusive because I know I can go to it (one place) and look at resources and ideas I have forgotten. But, I am just one person and it is not all about me. Just thought I would give my penny's worth.

I'm looking forward to the 'gold' challenge. I've been wanting to add metals (wire, foil, screening, etc) to pieces for a long time and this may just be the push I need to actually start experimenting with it. Good choice, Suzie.

well, gang, and especially dottie-- it looks like the wedding between her/your daughter and my son ( both being in nyc, therefore possible) will not be taking place any time soon. now, i have been known to rush to judgement and otherwise spill the beans, but it really looks like the young man in question may be relocating to london to pursue his masters in playwriting at the u of london, (heard they were going to call it london university, but then too much confusion going to the LU). he has been accepted and will need to be there by october, or late september, or whenever! i see a visit to london in my future!! i hope he chooses to do it, altho' he has just been offered a new job in nyc. it is in the arts, but is not playwriting. oh, to be young and have sooo many options and able to live in poverty as a preferred lifestyle. i was never a starving artist, much too addicted to my french fries and burgers! and not dedicated enough to actually suffer for my art. anyhow, he is, and also so much more talented than i will ever be! so i am over the moon at the possibility and missing him already! if it were i, i would be packed and sitting at the airport by now, bouncing up and down on the luggage carousel! guess i will have to stop crocheting art quilts for wedding favors!

    Default August theme completed

OK so here is my final Q for August. Excuse the lousy living room badly lit rendition of this Q but it is going into a suitcase to be brought back as a gift forthwith.
Boy did I try several new things here. Crayons with chicken wire, as mentioned, some painting techniques for the Dalmatian doggie coat, the QR code printed onto fabric (One of my betters ideas for an 'in joke' I think. I highly recommend it.) The usual coffee stains, bleaching and oddball threads were all fun. Lest you think I am a fiend for punishment let me say I had played with techniques and created the fabric at other points. It was not all done for this project.

Me too. I do some now and again but thought an all out challenge might be good. If I was going to have more time at home rather than on the road this month I think I would be tempted to see how many kinds of gold I could make look interesting on a small piece.

Alas I will be on the road and can't be so ambitious.......Otoh maybe I can get more designed that I think..........

Thanks for the input. I know what you mean and agree about inclusive, but can also foresee how unwieldy 3,000 messages would get It is a conundrum of making resources easy to find and easy to use all at the same time isn't it?

It would also be nice to have a little more organization at times. Life can be so messy

Awesome! Being married to a musician and having children who keep insisting on pursuing 'that art thing' I know your son will l have to find someone who is one heck of a money manager to keep it all in hand---but boy will he love London for the arts.

And you NEED to go visit to take photos and come home with ideas for all sorts of quilts to make for our viewing pleasure.

PS. My avatar quilt was made from a line drawing my son made a few years back so you can see we are a weird bunch.
