Mashed potato salad. Make your favorite potato salad, but make it with mashed potatoes. It tastes just the same If it needs to be smoother, you can whirr his up in a blender or food processor.

Egg salad - make the same way you always do, but blended smooth.

Watergate salad. If you want to add nuts, be sure they're well ground up. For diabetics, use the sugar-free pudding in it.

Cook any vegetable until it's soggy.

For turkey, just cut up into small pieces that can be swallowed whole.

Without knowing how sore his mouth is (I'm guessing he just had his teeth pulled for dentures) he might be well enough by Thursday to eat semi-solid foods and no special prep required or desired.

Breakfast can be your normal pancakes and sugar-free syrup. Sausage can be crumbled in a skillet and served on the side. Scrabbled eggs with rotel tomatoes and cheese melted on top.

Turkey is generally pretty tender. It can be shredded and sliced into small pieces without loosing any of the flavor or texture. You have your standards of smashed potatoes, yams, green bean casserole, deviled eggs, gravy, creamed corn, jello, etc. Croissants are easy to tear into tiny bites.

If he can't handle texture or chewing of any kind in the next 5 days he might want to check with his dentist. We've had several people at work get dentures and they were "gumming" stuff within a few days ... mainly because they were starving.

Best wishes to him and you.

Incredible how many have excellent ideas on this QB site!!:thumbup : Thanks everyone.

At noon, I took a can of Corned Beef Hash, added a can of beef broth, brought to a boil, then added one fourth cup of flour mixed with 3/4 cup of milk and added another cup of milk, and a half package of frozen peas and carrots to make the pot pie mixture. Baked biscuits in the oven, used one in the bottom of the bowl and the other half or top on top of the 'pot pie' cooked mix. He loved it. Note to self:The peas and carrots should have been microwaved first to be completely cooked and tender.

He made the Impossible pie recipe I posted here, and loved the pie. He also loved the Marshmallow Fudge and Marshmallow peanut butter candy I made today. (So did the Schwan's man whom I offered a couple of pieces in a small plastic bag.) Recipe for candy is on the soft marshmallow jar.
