    And unless its a rotary bobbin, the needle would be BB. Ooops I'm thinking yours is a rotary. Thats different.

    So the needle bar position could be adjusted to use a std 15*1 needle. One of the experts will be able to give more detail..

    Jim & Grant;
    Thanks for the information. I will post pics when I get home later this week and find the working camera. Had never thought of the approach of just trying the bobbins to see which fits. The senior too little sleep moment.

    I'm still unclear, are we speaking of a round bobbin machine, or a long bobbin machine?

    The later New Home machines when they merged with Free did take a "CC" or "CC1221" needle which is the equivalent of "Boye 2-1/2". Best to post a pic of the machine like you mentioned. Needles are high but there's a Youtube video for grinding down a 15x1 to work. For a $3-$4 per needle savings I'd do it.

    I apologize for being unclear. This is a round bobbin machine - both actually are round bobbins. I hope to post pics tomorrow. Great to know I can buy ground down needles.

    Ya'll make me laugh! After going to Astoria and Seaside, Oregon, I realize how much the vintage machine has gained in value. Two years ago, a trip resulted in the purchase of a Morse SS. My first. Now, an Elna Grasshopper is 50 times the price I paid for that Morse. Value is beginning to sink in for those folks stuck in our tough times. So glad to have what I have.

    Hey all. After browsing sewing machines on CL today I saw this child Betsy Ross machine in a cute little red case. Perhaps someone would like to add it to their collection.

    Also there is a cool white Morse machine.
