I don't iron before I cut fabric and just iron as I sew. I'm surprised so many of you iron before you cut.

I precut smaller, workable sized pieces and then I iron, then I cut. BTW, I never starch. I will sometimes use sizing, but usually just water to spritz the fabric.

I sew in the dining room, so ironed fabric drapes over the back of a dining room chair before being cut.

I iron all at the same time and then cut all at the same time....mostly because until my room is done, I don't have a place to cut in there so I iron in my sewing room and cut in the dining room. Thus the reason for ironing first and cutting second. Call me crazy, but it works for me! . When the room is done, though, I will probably do what everyone else does.

I have one of those fold up wooden clothes racks that we used to use in the winter time to dry clothes instead of putting them in the dryer. This works great for hanging lots of fabric after it is ironed and of course when you are finished it can be folded up and put away again til next time.
