LOL. all I can say is, you made me smile and chuckle at the idea of his shirt making a wonderful OBW! I am sure it would!! Just I can see the poor man and his wondering if he had spilt something on the front of his shirt by your taking such notice of it! And Yes it is something we all might think of when seeing a summer dress or a shirt of many colors or prints! I now find I look at the thrift stores at the blouses and skirts or any clothing and think of what could be quilted from it!! So you are not alone.

I don't mind plaids but homespuns are definitely not my choice to work with. They either feel really cheesy or way too heavy. And they ravel so much. Seems like it almost always shows up in a so-called "primitive" type pattern and they are just not my cup of tea. Nice in a raggedy-edged quilt though.

I don't mind plaids but I have to use them in very specific ways. I started buying them when I took a class on Margret Miller's Angle Templates. I was so thrilled with the class I bought the entire set of rulers. That was several years ago. My collection of plaids and strong fabrics grows but I have yet to make a single block. :roll:

No, you are not odd. I think quilters are very visual people and patterns and colors attract our attention. I was looking at the kitchen floor this morning realizing the pattern was a nine patch with an X through it. How would you do that in fabric I thought! Then I thought: half-square triangles and an appliqued X. Now, what colors to do it in......

One of our pastors has a shirt that catches my eye every time he wears it. I told him not to ever throw or give that shirt away because I want it for a quilt. When I see him wear it I ask it he isn't finished wearing that shirt yet???
