Default Another Great Story ! My First White Rotary and It's FREE !!!

Hi all,

Again, this is such a long story but just want to share with you another great sewing machine story of my first White Rotary. Here goes:

I was talking about this White Rotary on another thread. It was listed for $30 and I emailed the seller. She replied and I somewhat forgot about it since the place is about 65 miles from me. Out of the blue I decided to call her as she said in her previous email to call her and we can talk. Knowing that I am way too far from her she said it’s not worth it to drive there but she said they are going up north (my way) to check on something and if I am willing to meet them at Concord (that’s about 12 miles from me). We agreed on time and place for pick up. She said she’s ok with the $20 as she just wants someone who will use it and love it as I said that I will be using it. That is actually her first question when I initially talked to her – ‘why do you want this machine’. Anyway we met this morning and I was about 20 minutes early. They’re coming from Mountain View (a good 65 miles) so I’d rather wait than be late.

As I saw them coming she was waving at me. She was with her husband (who is a retired military man). She opened her truck and there is a nice white rotary sitting by herself. she showed me how to open the cabinet and showed me the included rotary attachments. It comes with the original manual too. We talked for awhile and exchanged pleasant stories. She has another portable 60’s sewing machine that she said weighs about 50 lbs. I told her you know who to call if you want to sell it but she said "nope, we’re keeping that one".

We wanted to chat some more but they're in such a hurry as they have an 11am appointment. Anyway, as they’re about to leave I handed the money to her and she refused to accept it. She said that i should just go treat someone to a nice lunch and just keep the money. She said that she just want someone to take care of this machine as it was her mom's sewing machine. The white sewing machine looks so pristine and well taken care of. Just need some oiling and a good cleaning. Cabinet is in good condition also except for some minor scratches. I’m blessed again for getting this one machine, and blessed for meeting such a nice couple. this for sure i will keep for myself more so for the nice story and for the kind couple that i've met. my first ever white rotary and it’s FREE, yeheyy. here is Judy (named after the seller).

thanks again,
vic

thank you guys. yes, this one is a keeper.

and i found 2 sets of sewing needle in the cabinets. these needles were sold for 35 cents during that time. so the white rotary use 15x1 size needle also. just like the singer?

Lovely story. Perhaps write it up and tuck it inside for the next owner?

that's a good idea. i sure will do that. in fact i will do that on all my machines as they have their own nice stories. put the date and everything. what i have done so far is to chronicled their serial nos., year built, where and when i bought them. hmmm.. thank you. you gave me an idea.
