The middle border is just a wide 1/4 inch. I wanted some definition between the gold and the red. Someone had suggested a "micro flange" but you don't quilt over a flange and I am too new to frame quilting to want to mess with a border design.

Here's a close-up so you see it better.
Your third border idea is very pretty. I have enjoyed seeing all of the finishes so far. It looks like the main difference in all of these is the border.

My top is finished!!! Wow I'm happy to be able to say that. Now I have to get it sandwiched. My not so favorite thing to do.

It's beautiful and a nice match for that room!

It looks beautiful, Helen (Tweety2911)! Were you the one I told that I was using the same gray that you did? It looks like it from your photo. Sure is pretty!

Your top is beautiful, Cathy!

MrsSewNSew, that backing couldn't be more perfect. Looks like it was made for that quilt top!

Good! Thank you! It was one of those fabrics I LOVED in the store but got a bit worried about after I got home! I really do love the fabric though and I will love it on the MQ.

I am trying to do a quilt label for this but am aware that curved edge will change the dimensions of the corner. Did anyone else happen to see where someone made a label out of the Allietare star? I thought it was a really cute idea but am not so sure how to implement it. It would be 10 inches square in total and that seems big to sew on after quilting. Would you piece it right into the backing and quilt over it?

Yes, that's exactly how I would do it... or you could do one in miniature if it would be big enough.

I thought about that, but I really need the 4" square to write in. Making it smaller would cramp my letters down too much and then to quilt over it, might make it illegible.

It's been lovely seeing some more tops finished - really keeping me on track too .

I've got all my wee bits joined up into one big bit at last!

It's been a bit of an uphill slog, trying to find time to devote to sewing. I still have to make a decision about borders - I'm in two minds - do I make the first border from the green, to connect the triangles, or do I go with the neutral to complete that edge? Decisions, decisions.

I sort of feel that I've lost the emphasis of the dark stars, so I think I'm going to include a second small dark brown border too, to pull that colour up in the top.

And then what do I do with all these??
