Default Another "new to me" old Singer!

I drove to Crookston, MN today to try to see something "new"; and I succeeded!

"I am not a collector," so I did not buy it. It was time for the shop to close, so I did not get to "play" with it very much, but here's the Singer 319W. It's a light green (that would coordinate beautifully with my Singer Fashion Mate 252 - if I were a collector!)

It's in a smaller flip-top cabinet with no drawers. I didn't see any accessories, but I'm going back to investigate it further.

Very cool looking machine......IF you were a collector teehee!!!

One might need to tilt the head back to get at the bobbin area.....there were a few made that way.

Dianne is exactly right - tilt the head back or get a table with a hole for your hand to reach in and change the bobbin. To get the plate off it pops up and twists. PITB IMHO... also hard on the paint. After you have done it a few times it isn't very hard to do though. I guess I got used to changing the bobbin from below on an old industrial machine I used to have.

I have two of these and I really like them, One has the more desirable chromed keys and the other has painted keys and of course the paint wears off after several decades. It likes lots of oil as shown by the many oil holes. Mine runs super strong and has nice stitches. Check to see if it comes with the design cams. I paid 75.00 for one in a fantastic table and the other one I paid 60.00 for in a okay table but I drove 6 hours each way over a mountain range to the coast to pic her up.

I will buy these whenever I get the chance, just like Bernina's and Featherweights...LUV EM'

that one is in very nice shape and what I consider a very nice price. Even if it does not come with the "extras" they are very easy to obtain on eBay. I've got a green one and a black one - just love the keys!

Nice find!! I picked up a black one a few months ago but haven't had a chance to play with her yet. She needs a 'Big" cleaning and oiling - was stored in a mildewy basement and had a thin layer of mold but appears to run ok and will clean up nicely The levers remind me of the old typewriter keys. It will be fun cleaning her up and getting her into top shape to play with
