Default Decals and sticky tape!

Morning all, did a search and couldn't find anything specific so am popping this post in hoping someone can help me. Have just come into possession of a nice little 128K and once I got it home I noticed that a small section of the decals was covered by a bit of old sticky tape which has just plopped off! Now, once I've cleaned my girl up can I glue the old bit of sticky tape back on to her as the decals are still on the tape? And if so, wht sort of glue should I use? Am I better off just not bothering and throwing the old cellotape away......It's about 1/2" in length. All in all the decals are in good condition so it wouldn't be a major drama not to have this little bit back on but...............
All advice eagerly consumed and ruminated on!

What decal set does your 128K have? Good reproduction decals are now being made, though they are not cheap. I am thinking that once the decal has lifted off your machine it is a "goner". Personally I would not try to re-apply the old tape with any kind of glue.

IF you can use a "goo-gone" type material to reduce the glue and separate the decal fragment from the tape with say an razor blade, THEN you could talk about re applying it (with shellac) to the machine. tough job, but...muhahahaha

I have never tried to separate a decal fragment from a piece of tape. However I have removed tape from over decals on machines by soaking them with sewing machine oil. The oil dissolved the tape and it came off with gentle rubbing. You might try that, and if the oil dissolves the tape goo then you might reattach the decal with Steve's shellac idea.
