Default Featherweight help

I was getting ready to sew last night and went to pull my featherweight towards me and all of a sudden it started sewing. When I unplugged it it stopped, plugged it back in and it was fine. Then when I pushed it back slightly it stating sewing again (without my foot on pedal).

Any ideas of what should I start checking first? My first thought was to order a power cord replacement

Thanks
Ginger

Check the connections to the motor from the cord.

I see you're in Tacoma WA. There's a fantastic vintage sewing machine guy in Snohomish WA.
His name is Mel and his phone number is 360-563-1274. Highly recommend him!

There was a post about this type of problem a couple of days ago. I believe the problem was solved by cleaning the contacts on the foot pedal controller itself.

Perhaps the foot control button is slightly stuck.

Just read something similar someplace else. Can't remember where but they said to check where the wiring comes out of the machine and goes to the foot pedal.

Sounds like a short in the power cord or foot control. If you take it for service, let us know the outcome. I've never had any problems with my featherweight yet, but you never know when it might happen.
