Default Featherweight trouble, need help

So I got a Featherweight last week. Runs great so long as its not threaded. Breaks the top thread on the second stich. Can't get the screws loosened on the throat plate. Help!

Have you changed the needle? It may have a burr on it. Or it could be in backwards. Have you checked the tension? Does the thread pull through easily?

Did those things, thanks. I was treading the needle the wrong way. Goes great with the Right to left.

You may want to put a drop of penetrating oil on those throat plate screws. You will have to get it off in order to clean your machine. Let it sit overnight then hit them with a hairdryer until they are pretty warm ( taking care not to overheat the paint on the machine) then try to loosen them.

Good plan with the penetrating oil. Got to pick that up.

Thanks for the help everyone, I was a lot worried that I had spent $$ on eye candy when what I wanted was a working machine.
