I have a question for all you experts. My 1911 New Home machine surface is rough. There are a few spots that are smooth and shiney. The majority of the machine is rough feeling and dull. I thought that maybe it was dirty. I took some cleaner and rubbed on it. The rag was not dirty and hubby and I got the feeling that maybe the machine had a clear coat on it and the clear coat went bad. Any feed back. I do not want to rub on it any more and neither does hubby for fear of destorying the decals. Kathie

Kathie, I have a Jones just like yours. I think your decals might be in better shape and I do not have a stand or cover for it like you do. I love it. :-D

Geeze, it is a MODEL 15!!!!!! I thought so, but I didn't know the Model 15's went back that far! You have a Model 15 allotted on March 29, 1911! Does that machine back tack or is that lever just a stitch regulator??????

Ok that machine should drop its feed dogs for FM quilting!!!!! It takes a normal 15x1 needle - the Schmetz work great! It takes a class 15 bobbin, those are readily available everywhere! Please post a close up picture of the machine decals and the face of the machine! I want to see the decals better! You can get the belts at most sewing repair shops and on-line for about $6 to $10. They all come 72", you just need to size it for your treadle and machine!

Don't know if anyone helped her. She may have to give that area a good cleaning. Sometimes lint or threads can be the trouble.

Meet Mr. and Mrs. Two Spools, the Cowboy and Melinda.
Some like to collect featherweights, but I like to collect Two Spools. I couldn't resist this one since it came in a treadle cabinet. Melinda is a pretty little lady ready to piece up my next quilt which will be a quilt for a friend's son who is getting his Eagle Scout Award. And the Cowboy has honorary position under my Singer 66-1 on the bookshelf.

They are beautiful VM.......looks like you've got too many treadles there maybe you'll have to send one to me to babysit?? LOL

Hank, my Singer 328k, got moved into my straight-leg treadle. I had to move treadles around to make room for my Two Spools treadle. The issue with the treadle belt hitting the metal part under the bobbin area on the 328k improved by changing the treadles, but it still rubs against that area just slightly. It is easier to treadle now. I just can't imagine that Singer design a machine to treadle and have the belt hit the machine. Others have cut the metal out where it rubs, but I do not wish to deface the machine.

Heehheee, the newlyweds will not like that! ;) I think I'm done with machines for now. I really don't have room for anymore. And all my machines/treadles have a special job in assembling the quilts, from piecing to finishing off the binding with a decorative stitch. I feel extremely fortunate and thankful to own them all!
