Well, this one is the opposite of your Domestic. It's very heavy.

The manual probably says "White Rotary needles" kind of like the Singer manuals say use "Singer needles," trying to sell their brand. It is a cute little machine, very deco 40s looking to me. The bobbins will be different, but those can be found online if you need them.

Thanks, that's what I was thinking. It has a bunch of bobbins with it. They look strange! And the bobbin case is really odd too! But, I'm used to vintage Singers...

The Vindex is most probably a National; this one actually looks more like a National than most of the New Homes.

That one looks a LOT like the one I just picked up. The price was right. I'll be doing mine up when weather turns warm in the spring. Maybe we can tag together on our machines. I think it won't take long - the machine turns well and has a good protective coat of dried on oil everywhere. The cabinet on mine is another story. Mine was supposed to begin with D - well it is called Vindex Special - fuzzy phone communications. I had trouble finding the address - I thought she said P**** but it was t T**** street. It was suppose to have real ornate decals - I guess that would be all according to what you think is ornate. The price was right. I love how smooth mine turns and how smooth the treadle turns. I can see the shuttle in there. I think Sew-classic has bobbins - I've seen the bobbins other places as well. The slide plates are still there too.

You may be able to find them cheaper than this, but here is one I found through a quick search:

Help, now I find I need a 20x1 needle for my Davis Honeymoon. Where to buy? I'm looking at the Ismacs list of interchangeable needles but I'm too dense to understand what it means. Is e-bay the only place to get them? SewClasics doesn't have them. The needle that was in the machine had Boye 30-40 on it,

=quiltdoctor;4773283]I was given a Singer 127 this weekend. Fella is making a table out of the irons. Grrrr !!! The only part of the wood that was any good was one side drawer and one center one. He was thrilled that I would take the machine so it wouldn't be scrapped. (I told him to keep me in mind in the future). She is a Sphinx decal Made in 1926, but in awful shape. Locked up tighter that a drum !! I found a rusted box of attachments in the drawer I got, plus two shuttles and 3 bobbins.
Some kind of bug like a dirt dauber had built nests inside the face of the machine about 1" deep. I cleaned the face out all last night. I bought PB Blaster today and it really does work to loosten rusted parts. I was able to completely disassemble the inside of the face and get all the mud out. The wheel came off easily, but none of the innerworkings are moving yet.
Free though, so I'm up for another crazy challenge.

She will be really pretty when you finish with her. You do such wonderful work with these old ladies. How do you like the PB Blaster?

I liked the PB Blaster. It seemed to loosten a lot of stuff quickly. I think it smells like mothballs, but hey--it works. Hopefully it will work on some more places tomorrow.

Oh crud!! It followed me home tonite, and whined so piteously at the door that I had to let her in! Meet the new lady of the house. She came with nothing but the "clothes" on her back (a style 56 cabinet)...that and a BUNCH of dust! Now I'm thinking I shouldn't have sold all of those slant shank parts!! LOL Oh well, I still have a pink egg buttonholer...and the other stuff is easy to find on ebay, or the local thrift stores! :)

What's a girl to do? I couldn't leave her out in the cold, could I? (I really didn't want any of the slants, for some reason they didn't appeal to me! LOL)

Cute! Those extra attachments are a hint to your next machine. Remember the machine has a way of finding you!
Once this gal is clean up, she will be pretty. Enjoy!

Charlee, I think I have her twin sister. Mine needs a bobbin cover and a good cleaning. I used her for a good while then got fed up with retaping the plastic lid I had substituted for her bobbin cover and also think now that maybe the plastic bobbins I had been using were the wrong ones as I was having bird's nest issues. One of these days I'll find time to work on her. Where would I look to find a bobbin cover for her?
