The veneer was off the top of the table, but it was hardwood in 4 pieces underneath. I haven't got her sewing yet, as the shuttle is rubbing on the feed dogs, but she is pretty to look at. Now to find a coffin top for her and maybe a drawer or two. The seller has restored a police car just like the one in Mayberry RFD, the old Andy Griffith show. I decided to name this machine Beatrice, after the Mayberry Aunt Bea.
Many thanks to Glenn for all his help and guidance.

Jan, wow and double wow. You did a great job of restoring the machine and cabinet. You will have to do like Glen says and pat yourself on the back too.

Nancy and Jan...you've both done amazing things with machines/cabinets that even I might have hesitated to take on, and "I ain't skeered of nuthin'!!" :D

Candace, do you ever have trouble with it skipping stitches? If so, how did you deal with it? I am really looking for a good machine to FM with. I have tried my 2 modern Janomes and get soooooo frustrated! I have about 9 or 10 tops that need quilted and don't want to spend the money to hire a long armer, $$$ tight these days. But my sanity is worth something. LOL

I get the best results with stepping on the gas full throttle and moving the quilt slower. You'll get smaller stitches, but they won't skip or skip as much. I've also found increasing the pressure on the pressure foot helps and maybe upping the needle size if there are any skipped stitches happening. If these things don't help, it may be slightly out of time and may need an adjustment.

Texas Jan what a great before and after picture! What year is your fiddlebase? Is it a 24? I am not that familiar with the fiddlebase Singers. I have one VS2 from 1889 with the Rose and Cornflower decal that still needs the cabinet restored. We haven't tackled that one yet. You did a great job on your fiddlebase, it gives me the inspiration to get mine done!
