The machine is cast aluminum and would have to be tig welded. It can be done but hard to do would have to have a good welder that knows aluminum welding. Then repainted. Our son is a prof. welder and that's how we know.

I love the machine Crossstitcher, and I'm drooling over the cabinet! :D I am more likely to buy a machine/cabinet that has "stuff" than I am to buy one without! You can never tell what you might find in those drawers!! :)

Sew, I find myself always using my Two Spools for piecing, since that machine has the 1/4" foot and the same length feed dogs to evenly feed the fabric through.

There have been times when I would start a project with the intent to use just one of my machines that doesn't get used often for projects, only to find that I somehow meandered back to the Two Spools just for that easy comfort of the 1/4'' foot.

Recently while working on a paper piecing project, I realized that I had worked the entire time at the machine (not the Two Spools).
Looks like I'll be PP with my vintage ladies/gents that patiently wait their turn. Yup, each machine has a job!

I found a Singer 328k before a Merritt. Now, I treadle the Singer 328k and don't plan on getting a Merrittt, but I would love to know how well the Merritt works. Congrats!

Might have to wait for warmer weather to put it in a cabnit because we do have one empty one but way in the back of Hubby's work shop. Will let you know how it goes when we get it set up.
