I have aquired my mother-in-law's Montgomery Ward sewing machine I think from the 40's C74 NS 4896 A is the SN. Does anyone know where I can find info on this machine? I would like to find a copy of a manual. the threading is inside the face cover and can't be seen when the door is closed.

Speaking of Elnas have you seen this one, Nancy? http://sacramento.craigslist.org/hsh/3003633736.html I'm betting it will need the inner pulley resurfaced, but it looks to be in nice shape with lots of discs:>

I think I know what you have - I bet it is just like the one someone threw through our patio door to break in the house. I may have a manual somewhere... somewhere.............

Need help with my find for today
3 Attachment(s)
Have never owned a Singer but as of today I do!!!! Now I need help to identify it and you all know I am fairly new at this. There was a $30.00 price on it. I offered $20.00 and he said yes. After getting it home and plugging it it (it purr's) was going to put thread on it but to my surprise the peg that holds the thread is not there. Any solutions? Also there is no book with it so need to find some reading material. In the picture of the backside there is a large hole. What is suppose to be there? The number on it is AL119834. Seems like I had another question but now I can't remember what it was.
After leaving that yard sale and a few later I found a buttonhole attachment for a Singer for $1.00. May not work but what the heck. If anyone can help me out here I would be so very happy and Thanks!! |
Crewsemj,
You have a Singer 15-91. If the buttonholer is correct for the box its in, it will work with this machine. I use a cone thread stand when I have a machine without a spool pin. Here's a link to a manual for a 15-88/89 it'll work just fine. http://www.sil.si.edu/DigitalCollect.../NMAHTEX/2665/ Sharon W |
