Nancy- The truth is I didn't want the table at all but now that it is home and I have been using the machine all week I am loving the table. We have other machines in tables but they are all the small tables. And I *think* this may be my favorite sewing machine. Jen

I'm looking forward to seeing that Two Spools! You are going to love sewing with that machine. They tend to be a wee bit louder than the Singer 66 (or any Singer for that matter) when treadling, but the stitching is very nice. It's my favorite piecing machine.

Joe you will love sewing with the 66-1 with the back clamp feet. As I said before the 66-1 is my go to machine.

Skip,

This makes Singer 66 number 8 I think. I've come to the belief that the 66 was Singers best straight stitch machine.
Now I need another treadle cabinet for it. Ahhh, will it even end?

Yes and yes if they are black - white won't work. LOL http://www.singerco.com/accessories/instruction-manuals I even have a repair manual. Lots of info.

I want to thank all of the enablers for stopping me from making a big mistake. I reconsidered giving away my late MIL's old Singer 15-91. It had been sitting around neglected for the last 14 years. Several years ago I did try to get it working properly but failed. After reading many posts, I gave it another try. It sews much better after the needle is placed in the right position and threaded properly and the tension adjusted. A picture of her is posted in the picture thread.

My "new" machine is a Singer Creative Touch 1036 that I bought new around 1979 or 1980. She's a wimp compared to a 15-91 but she can zig zag.

Jen, I agree the Viking is a lot fun to use. I think it comes close to my Pfaff 260 in running extremely quiet and smooth. I haven't had time to try all the decorative stitches out on my 6010 yet! I am glad you like the cabinet! I just don't have room for another cabinet!

There is an extension table on E-bay right now for the 5000 series Viking's. Does anyone know if it would fit my 6010 - I'd bet it would! There is also an extension table for the 6000 series listed on e-bay, but they are asking $100 for the darn thing! Geez!

Lee, have you tried piecing with the Two Spools? You will love piecing with it (Glenn you too)! The standard foot that comes with the machine is a perfect 1/4"! Also, that machine has feed dogs the same exact length so there is no pulling of your fabric to one side - you get a perfect straight stitch!

Penny, I saw your machine in the Photo section! I am so glad you got the 15 working, and you are going to keep it! I love my 15-88 treadle! Those machine are just workhorses!

Also, Dorothy your collection in the Photo section is really nice too! I have that two-tone 301! Love your whole collection, though!

Man Joe, you really made a nice haul the other day! What fun! I have a Redeye and two later model 66's, but I have not sewn with any of them - except to make sure they work! Those machines, as you know, have to sit in a cabinet/case like a 99 does! I can't use mine because the cabinet is in line for re-finishing! I always hear how nice they sew. One of these days, I will find out! Oh and you know, I am sure, that the slide plates are very easy to get! The 99 and 66 are interchangeable! There is a 'new' refurbished one you can order. I use to get mine from Billy.

Never mind, I just purchased an extension table for the 6020 off E-bay - it was just listed for 1/3 the price that the other 6000 extension table is listed for!

Cathy, thank you for the information on the 6010/6020! I have been doing some research and according to Viking the 6010/6020 were the last of their 'top of the line" machines before they introduced that "self-oiling" feature that ruined a lot of machines!

I have not been able to find out what the difference is in the 6010/6020, though. It doesn't matter, I really like the 6010!
