The bobbin winder is not winding evenly, it's heavy on the right. I have the original manual minus the fist few and last few pages and I'm not finding anything there or online about how to adjust it. Can anyone help? This is a 1931 Singer 66.

There were several different bobbin winders used on the 66s. Without knowing which your machine has it's difficult to diagnose.

And even though the machines of that vintage came with one style, doesn't mean it hasn't been changed at some point.

Could you post a pic of the machine so we'd know which you have.

Some are easy to adjust, some a bit more difficult. All can be pretty much adjusted.

Here is a photo of the bobbin winder. It is not original, I replaced it but the current winder is identical to the original.

OK, the lever pointing up with the slot in it is what determines where the thread loads on the bobbin.

>To adjust it first make sure all the screws are tight.
>Make sure the bobbins fit all the way on the shaft, and properly engage the little peg.
>If there is a lot of play between the large winder drive wheel and the horizontal shaft, this can be adjusted. The large screw through the center has an eccentric on it. Loosen the square nut on the back, then turn it slightly till the play is just removed. Then hold the screw and tighten the square nut.
>Then bend the lever in the direction you want more thread, just a tiny bit. Then test it. Repeat till you get it set where you want it.
>Don't bend the lever too much as it can break.

I think I have a better worded detailed adjustment procedure somewhere in my files. I'll look later today. Right now I have to get gone to fix a snafu caused by the health insurance dolts.
