Singer Featherweight
Hi, This is my first post to the board. I just bought a singer featherweight and wondered what the word "Simanco" means. I thought it might mean a town, but could not find anything.
Also, I was at a quilt show several months ago and saw a vender with LED (I think) light bulbs for the featherweight. I took his card in case I ever got a featherweight and of course put it in a safe place and now can't find it. Whatever the light bulb was called, it did not get hot like the lightbulb in my machine.
I really enjoy the threads in this area. I have a 1891 hand crank, my Aunts 1950 singer, a white treadle, the feather weight and a Baby Lock. Gosh, until I listed them all, I did not realize that I had that many. I wonder if my husband has noticed.

As for the light, Google LED light for Featherweight.
Simanco - Google "meaning of simanco", or just look at it for a while, it's sort of like all this telephone text-speak that confuses me. Singer was ahead of it's time with that name, Singer Manufacturing Company.
Welcome, Maggie from Bryan, Texas. Come back often.

I bought a LED bulb for my FW from the Pennsylvania Quilter, www.bettyneff.com at the Hershey show. Gives off great light without getting hot.
Enjoy your Featherweight!

Welcome to the board. I'm from Texas now in Florida. My dd and her dh live near you in Caldwell. Congratulations on buying a Featherweight. I have one and also a 301. They are awesome little machines. Just remember to always turn the hand wheel towards you and you'll avoid lots of problems. Have fun. Gina

Hi from another Texas gal!
I have more vintage machines than I can list. No kidding, because I listed them and got an "in violation" of rules on how many lines one can have here in their signature.
So, I guess that's maybe how you might think you have too many. As for me, I just won't "signature" them...lol
I have 2 Featherweights, one is a 221K. I'm thinking I will be selling it sometime...
If you do a Google search, you'll find lots of great info on the Singer Featherweight machines.
I've also bought a great book, The Singer Featherweight 221 and I.
Here's a link to just a sampling of sites you may want to check out:

You our can get the LED light from Glenn Williams. He buys and sells FW's and sells parts, attachments, supplies and notions for FW. I have an LED light and love it. It does not get hot. No burning your hands and no heat. His Internet address is: [email protected]. And his web page address is: pages.suddenlink.net/joyof301s/Glenn.htm

Holy Cow! Ya'll are wonderful. I cannot believe I couldn't figure out Simanco. It is so clear now that I know what it means. Thank you for the warm welcome. I have been following this board for many, many months but nervous to post.
