Maggie,
Welcome from another Texas gal! Featheweights are nice little machines, just don't turn the hand wheel backwards and you won't get any thread jams.

Default Singer Featherweight

Glad you are enjoying your new featherweight machine. I have an opportunity to purchase a featherweight but am unsure about the purchase.

I currently have a singer treadle machine ( never used, given to me), an old Necchi that was my mothers and a Janome 1100 which also does embroidery. I mainly use the Janome when quilting at home but do take the Necchi to weekly sewing sessions at the community center. The Necchi does straight & zigzag stitches. Thought that the featherweight would be nice to take in the rv but am concerned about only having the straight stitch option.

What will be the main function of your featherweight machine?

Holly -

i have purchased almost all of my machines (not all Featherweights) from Betty's husband Richard. Did it again this year at Quilt Odyssey. Anyway, thanks for the note about the LED bulb - I totally forgot to even look for them and really, really want to get some (I have 5 fw). Guess I'll have to make a note to self and wait till next Spring to see the, at the Continentsl Hotel. They are both fabulous people and I would suggest that anyone wanting a terrific machine to check with them.

Thanks,
Sandy in Mooresville, NC

Maggie77802, Welcome to the Board! My husband and I lived in Longview, Texas in 1964-67, our son was born there, but we've been in Florida now since early 1967! You will find many experts on this Board -- I learn something new every day!
