Maybe not be as long as you think! :) I think this is a 201 with an external motor. I wish people would take better photos of the machine that their posting. But this looks like a 201 (201-3) in a Queen Anne cabinet. The cabinet looks nice too. I would buy this, find a treadle for this machine, and sell the Queen Anne cabinet. The light will NOT be in front like it is for the 201-2 with potted motor. Mine didn't. The spool area looks flat, like the 201. (reference: http://www.grandmotherssewingmachine...inger_201.html)

This machine is in East Orlando:

Here is another 201 with potted motor in not as pretty a cabinet as the Queen Anne and they are asking more.

It looks like it was only manufactured as a HC. It is so cute, a little 3/4 size machine!
Nancy

I just checked the serial number on my antique Singer in a bentwood case, AG111117. It has a crinkle finish and sews a very nice straight stitch. It seems it is a 99, correct?

I'll post a picture later after our sewing group meeting.

I think it's a pretty machine and will clean up very nice.
I think all the pictures posted since page 664 are really beautiful. Good hunting guys and gals. Can't wait for spring so we can start looking.

Yes, I remember seeing Billy's set up, like 2 months ago as I was paging though this huge thread. I thought it was great. Annies set up is also great, interesting how she assembled a bunch of irons under a solid, one piece top. Heck if you've got the space... For me, a lot will simply be determined by what I 'find' out here. There are not a lot of cheap machines in this area. oh no!

The treadle will have to go downstairs, when I get one. I'd like a 201 treadle head as one of the heads I use in it. Finding a natural 201 treadle down here is like finding a needle in a haystack.

I LOVE seeing folks' set ups and how they use the machines. It will be rather cool when I get to sew on them. If I ever get OFF this thread long enough to do so~!!!

VM... thanks! There's a 201-2 north of me by about 1.5 hours (closer than orlando to me and a less hectic drive). They want $150 for it, it's in the cabinet 40, but also has the matching bench. I'm headed up that way to get the trapazoid 301 today... I might take a look at it. They've had it listed for sale since early December, maybe even longer.

I'm still hoping for a great steal deal... like a $35 garage sale, portable 201!!!! (I think it was Nancy? or maybe Brenda that found that recently! Gosh!!!) lol... sometimes I think the HUNT  IS the fun part!!!
