Miriam you can try a thumb screw that holds the seam width attachment to the bed of the machine. Don't forget the pointed washer to indicate the stitch length number. I made mine out of flashing(roof) cut the tabs that bend down in the slot on efach side. I used an old scissor to cut it to shape. I continue the finish tech until it looks good to me. Phil will knw when it looks right. Skip

As for as the pressure foot lever stuck I use Blast Buster. I take the cover off the front and soak it good and let it sit for several hours. Don't use heat with blast buster. If it is still stuck spray again. We don't want to force it and break the thing. You can tap it to vibrate the stuff into unit to speed the process. Don't hit it hard you just want to cause a vibration by quickly tapping it lightly. This works better than kerosine for me.

The inside by the needle bar, etc was coated with very thick black dried up oily stuff - I got most of it off but it is still stuck - I'll have to focus on that area. There is a pin in the back that looks like when the lever bumps it should go up and down. I wonder if there is a spring in the shaft all gunked up. I'll have to take a look tomorrow. I'm still trying to get that shop re-arranged and better organized. (If my sister is reading this, she is rolling on the floor by now...) Glenn, I wish I could send that fine piece of furniture off to you to refinish - or do it myself - it is not mine. It is being 'stored' ggggrrrrrr...
Chance at an old Domestic
Just looked at an old Coffin top Domestic, has all the attachments, shuttle, lots of bobbins, a very mangled booklet. The cabinet is in good shape as well as the irons. Date of manufacture is 1871, it's dirty as all get out but free wheeling. Asking $125.00 and throwing in another 1950's cabinet with the deal which I don't need the other cabinet but what's anybody think about the price? Help........

So, the old saw is that it's worth what you want to pay, but it's true! If you really want it, and you can afford it, well then, the price is OK. It doesn't seem really high, but from my (cheap) perspective it doesn't seem like a bargain. Is it pretty? Do you like it? Did you try offering less? As ar as throwing in a cabinet, I'm at the phase of collecting where they would have to pay ME to take a cabinet! If you go for it, be sure to show pictures! Laura

Anybody know anything about a Singer, Model 237? There's one availalbe for sale for reasonable price near me and am curious about the machine. Does it take normal or the 206X13 needles?
