in the back ground is a Kenmore with some knob issues - some times they free up if they get enough attention from time to time.

I also cleaned up another old machine in BEAUTIFUL shape - I shot a pic of the bottom but forgot to shoot the pretty part - the whole machine looks like new. I get a little scared when I see a machine that looks like new. This one had a piece of fabric stuck with the needle down. I got that out - no problem. I cleaned out massive amounts of red lint. Then I oiled it up and plugged it in. The tension was wacky tight on the bobbin. The bobbin and case kept falling out - seems to be a very common problem - maybe it is user error. I changed out the bobbin just in case it was bent or warped and it was better as long as I keep the take up lever up when I put the bobbin in. Threads can get caught blocking the case from going in correctly - suppose to click in - even then sometimes it popped out. Anyway since I totally forgot to get a pic of the top I'm showing off a pic of the bottom.

I am a lucky man. Pat is working on the details so we can stop by and see Miriam and Phil in Indy on our way back from WI. Boy will I have fun in her shop although Pat wants Miriam to take her to junk stores and the antique shops. Maybe I will let Phil take her and Miriam and I can play with machines

When I have one with pin rash like that, I usually put rust converter on it to turn it black. I used to then wax over it, but now I use Skip's method of shellac. You might be surprised at how the bobbin cover plate comes out after the rust remover. LOVE the decals on these. I've always wanted a two spool, but now i REALLY want an Eldridge. Laura

garage saling today. 1 machine, a 1980s something kenmore - wasn't even tempted. Lady asked why and I said it wasn't old enough!! Got a strange look from her for that remark.
However, I did find and buy a Singer shipping crate from the UK to the US to Kansas City, KS. It held a featherweight when it was shipped from Clydebank. No lid but still the crate is sturdy and DH didn't say anything which is good. The guy said he had another and will find it and give me a call. He put it out in a whim - didn't realize a sewing machine nerd would even want to buiy it. Will post a picture later.
