Vintage Sewing Machine Shop.....Come on in and sit a spell
It is SO nice to have this thread back! My computer would not load it for over six months. No amount of tech support or restarting, reloading, or dumping would allow me to view the page. Reading these posts is like seeing an old friend again. Huge happy sigh and tons to share soon!

I owe my $5 Singer 404 an apology. I have been using it at church and commenting that it isn't as strong as the 301 on thick seams. Today I discovered I have piecing with the feed dogs down. Duh! It is a good little machine after all.
SA's pricing is strange. $9.99 for a 50s Japanese clone in a pretty light color - the only thing I didn't like was the left dedicated needle. It sewed well. $29.99 for a light green and cream Kenmore whose flywheel only turned a few inches in either direction. If I were in the market, I wouldn't pay more for the one that doesn't work.

Cathy and redbugsullivan,
Glad to hear you're on the mend,Cathy. It's nice to have both of you back again!
I have my own good news! My left knee is finally healed from a bad fall this time last year.
Praise the Lord!

Sharon, that is great news! It is always scary to hurt a knee - I always think 'knee replacement' anytime someone hurts a knee.

I set some tile in my 'new' shop today. It was some I found at the Habitat for Humanity store.
It was just painted - $5 mis-tint paint with some left over blue paint mixed in to make enough to do the job.
It needs shelves next.

Nancy,
It is good to be back. Kathy S. has been very attentive and checks in with me regularly.

Great information Cathy, thank you! I knew we could count on you for the correct model!
Also, Kathy S. has kept some of us up-to-date on your recovery! I am so glad you are feeling better and on the mend. My Dad had the same problem, but when he was diagnosed some 40 years ago they didn't know what to do about it so he lived with it and ended up with cancer.
