I've done about 50 by hand, it takes longer. A lot longer to do each block (real lonnnnnnggggg). I also think the paper pieced ones look 100 times better. I'm even thinking about redoing all the ones I did by hand, but then again you may be a perfect hand sewer and won't have my issues, so don't let me scare you!

LOL I think my hand sewing is pretty good... but far from perfect! :-)

I might have a go, just for the sake of it. I think a machined seam is always going to look nicer though.

Geesh...miss a day and I've got 10 pages to read! Sorry if my response if a bit long.

((((hugs)))) Oh sweetie, you are a better person then I am. I'd be consumed with worry and likely unable to concentrate enough to quilt. However, I clean house when I'm extremely stressed (evidently I don't stress as much as I should! Lol) and my house would be spotless!

Fabric Update: It'll be in Thursday evening. Yay!!!!! I have my local quilt guild meeting that night so I'll have to wait until Friday to get started. I am so excited! Klue, are you still having issues with using the indigo blue fabric? I copied you and that's what I've ordered and I want to know if I should make up a batch of starch and starch the snot out of it or if it'll behave without it.

bearpaw - "Sewing Jane's Fern Garden" sounds like a great name!

I'm bummed to see the tutes have been deleted. I don't blame Patrice or this site at all. I wouldn't want them to get into trouble. I blame Brenda, of whom I must say I think very poorly of. I have other words for her I use but I certainly wouldn't use them in public! She strikes me as someone who is only interested in money and in others giving her credit. What a shame. Knowing what I do, the only money she'll ever get out of me is what I've already spent for the software!! :p

I'm not about to let this stop me from making the quilt. I have too much invested in it, not to mention I've got a group that is meeting at my house next week to start it. I'll make sure to let everyone know "The Rules" so we don't get into trouble either.

I rather like the Jane Stickler Cyber Sew. This lets anyone who just comes across the thread to know what we are doing. That said, I also like being considered as part of Klue's Crew!

Yep, that's hell! I used to work in a place very similar to that. Hope she survives!

One of the best tips for hand applique is to pinch the fabric along the line you want to hand sew before you place it on your fabric and pin it down to sew. Cotton has a great memory and this little trick will make your applique come out much easier. (I hope that made sense!) ...Nevermind...I just read where you stated you didn't mean hand applique. I'll just leave this tip in for anyone else who may need it.

I wasn't thinking of applique.... I meant the one where you baste the fabric round a paper template, then whipstitch the seam by hand, like hexagons are done.

I'm going to save the applique for the little diamonds and melons Jane was so fond of! LOL[/quote]

Blue, I think that is considered English Paper Piecing. Not all of us are familiar with it. Hexagons can be machine pieced and Patrice did a nice tutorial on it a while back.

As upsetting as this bump in the road is to many of us. We really need to keep focus on why we have come together in the first place. We joined here to make our own Dear Jane quilts because we all love what Jane Stickle created so long ago. Brenda was the one who created the replicas for all of us to enjoy and recreate. Unfortunately in this wonderful world of internet it can be a problem for the business persons involved to keep copyrighted work from getting into the hands of the less honest who would steal it. We have respected Brenda by purchasing our copies I think we should also respect the copyright. No one is saying we can not continue just to be a little more careful in how we present our work so that it does not infringe upon the copyrights software and or books that we agree to when we buy them.

We will be able to work this out and get everyone the help they need with a few little changes. Come on now chin up everyone and let us enjoy this Cyber Block Party ;)

No one can fault Brenda. She's a smart businesswoman...and she has to protect her copyright or it's meaningless. She paid a pretty sum to get it no doubt. We can respect that and we should! I think this is really about figuring out how we operate it within the comfort zone of admin and the participants. Cher is absolutely right...let's keep our chins up and enjoy the party!
