I am loving me some blocks. It is a treat seeing all the different color combinations that make up all these great blocks. I really can't pick out which are my favorites. Waiting is supposed to be helping me choosing my colors. Haha, it's not working. Mine may be completely scrappy.

Hi
Here is all my completed block to the end of June, I have only 12 more blocks to the completion on my quilt and till I have to work out how I am going to put it together, Now looking back I should have done smaller block, 12" block make a very large quilt without putting any slashers or borders. The measurements that i have worked out for my quilt is going to be 96X84" without borders and with a 6" border it will work out 108X96". that is puting 8 blocks across and 7 blocks down, I willhave to remake 2 block to have the total of 54 blocks.
The second picture is what I have tried to do on a shpreadheet to see how I am going to disign my quilt.Hope you all can see it.

Lyn, that's going to be stunning! I love the colors you're using, bright but peaceful. Just lovely. I agree with you about wishing I'd have made the blocks smaller- 12" is making for a huge quilt. I think Carrie is smart making 2 smaller quilts instead of one huge one. What color sashing are you going to use? Great job, Lyn.

Hi Jan
I am not going to put the slashing, last year someone did every 1st row 8 blocks and every 2nd row 7 blocks with the 7 block row off centre and add 1/2 block at each end with the back ground fabric, I thought then if I have enough fabric do a 2" yellow and 4" green border and brown for the binding. I am trying not to by any more fabric as I try not to have a stash(It's working so far). Or just do the binding in a mix of the yellow, green, brown and no borders. I will just have to wait to see how it looks when completed.

Lyn Hut, it's gorgeous! Wanna trade? Just joking. But I do love your colors. It is going to be a huge quilt when it's done. Mine are 12 x 12 also. Last Guild meeting we had someone who did quilt as you go. I may change from my star sashing idea and do that instead. Each star is quilted individually with backing and batting, cut or squared up to 12 1/2 inches, butt the edges and zig zag together. Sew a 1 1/2 inch strip (doubled) to the top and the bottom at 1/4 inch and flip it over and stitch either by hand or machine to sew it down covering the zig zag. She used wonder tape to hold the fold down to sew. Or give it all up and send it to a longarmer.

I think that layout without sashings will be great; I've never done a quilt without sashings so can't wait to see it. Toverly, I'm going to QAYG my blocks, too. I do mine a little differently. I quilt the blocks with backing, add sashing, sew the rows together, then add the backing in one piece. I then quilt in the sashings to hold my quilt all together. This eliminates the hand sewing and the thickness of lots of sashings front & back. I've done this with all my large quilts.
