2015 - January Block of the Month - Photos

Well that's good to know, hopefully I can find a bundle I like. When I did the 2013 BOM I bought a yard of each color and two of the background color -- I still have some left. With my learning curve I need extra, as I often teach myself how not to do something in order to do it.
Cas49or, yes, it's a FQ bundle I found at Joann's and fell in love with. I didn't have a plan for it but when Patrice posted the 1st block I thought it would work up pretty so I'll be using it along with gray & aqua from my stash.
Last year was the 1st year I made this BOM using consistant fabric instead of scrappy & I really like the results so decided to try it again this year.

Nice blocks from all that have finished. I really like this block.
Patrice...I plan to do this block once my wall painting is finished....probably will be February before that happens.
Lovely block pattern. I am using some of last year's BOM fabrics but have added some extra ones. Hope they work well together.

I liked Joyce's idea of using a fat quarter bundle for the BOM. I didn't see any I liked at Joann's so I looked at ebay. I found a two pkg of 8 and purchased. I included a note that she could switch it up and give me more variety if she wanted and she gave me 13 different fabrics at a great price! Some were choices I would not normally go for if I was shopping at the LQS so it will be interesting to see how they all work together, but she did a good job of noticing small nuances and matching fabric to them.

I got my first block done! It's interesting how the corner fabrics look all wrinkled up in the picture, they are not, it's the pattern in the fabric.

My stash & scraps begged me to use them. I decided to use each month's block for centers of placemats. None will match in color or pattern but with plain white plates I think it will work and be fun to which matts become whose favorites.

I like them too, especially the rich, dark brown.
Dee I like your fabric too, and the placemat idea!
I wish I had put my floral in the corner too. oh well more blocks to come. :-)
