Quote: So Judy, you want me to pair all my scraps with the teal fabric I chose to make the HST’s right, not make all the HST’s just out of scraps. I’m sure I’ve got this the way you want but thought I’d check.
Use the LIGHTEST of your yardage with your scraps, and make your HSTs. This way, your HST will have one side light, one side scrappy.

Quote: Judy, can you tell us what you mean by "something" to go with the two? Darker? Lighter? Different colour?

Here are the two I was originally going to work with but I'm not sure if they will work now. (Yes, I do think turquoise is a neutral. )

Now I am confused, sorry. But when I was talking about neutrals I meant lights. If you use the turguoise and the black print, what are you going to use for the next clue?

Hmmmm...I don't know. I had planned to use a black on black print for the second clue, but that may not work?

I guess I should go white and turquoise for the first clue and use the black/white print for the second?

I was thinking of doing this quilt with yellow and navy blue and use a white instead of dark for later color. Now I'm having second thoughts and maybe use yellow and red and save the navy for later. Will this mystery quilt work using only primary colors?

I think your red and yellow would work well. Adding the navy next clue would be fine, or you can change your mind when you see what will happen next clue.

I'm late to the party and this isn't a good time of year for me to play, but I'm in. I dropped off some apple/cranberry pie squares in the dining car.

Welcome, Irish, never too late to join in!

I normally don't do many scrappy quilts. If I do, it is more of a controlled scrappy. I have a beautiful piece of fabric that I would like to use for this quilt. But, I am going to save all the clues and see what I can do with it at the end. I will be checking in often to see what everyone is doing. Have fun and enjoy the ride!

I have been having so much fun making these hst! I am using as many scraps as I can and a solid white. I know it sounds weird but the simple, scrappy sewing is just making me feel very happy. I have a feeling this is going to be a fun quilt. Thank you, Judy!
